A pair of Premier League stars have been named in Sport’s European Team of the Week.
Every week, the Catalan newspaper names it’s team of the previous round of fixtures, selecting the best 11 players from across Europe.
It is a team that usually throws up some odd selections, but there are always going to be some famous names in there. None more so than this week, with two Premier League performers selected alongside such greats as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thomas Muller.
Both took part in their respective club’s FA Cup quarter-final ties, with Sinclair netting for Villa after a strong performance against West Brom. Coutinho did not find the back of the net for the Reds, as they struggled to a draw with Championship side Blackburn, but the Brazilian playmaker still looked a threat and continued the great form that he has displayed over the last few weeks.
On top of his goal, 25-year-old Sinclair completed three dribbles, had four shots, and touched the ball an impressive 43 times. He still looks far from his best - as displayed earlier in his career with Swansea - but there is no doubt that he is starting to regain his form. The appointment of Tim Sherwood should do much to aid Sinclair, as the coach will look to create a new attacking potency in the Villa squad.
Coutinho has enjoyed the last few months as a Liverpool player, having struggled to get into the team in the early part of the season. He has quickly become a key figure in the first-team and looks to be finding consistency that has deserted him during previous campaigns.
