Former Leeds United favourite Jonny Howson was in inspired form once more at the weekend as his two goals helped Norwich City to a 4-1 victory over Millwall in South London.
The 26-year-old joined the Canaries from Leeds in the summer of 2012, much to the disappointment of the Elland Road supporters who saw him as one of their brightest youth products in recent years.
Once compared to Andres Iniesta by former boss Paul Lambert, Howson was a hit at Carrow Road but even his impressive performances couldn’t save the club from relegation last season.
Now, following a slow start to the campaign, the Canaries are back in the automatic promotion hunt and Saturday’s 4-1 thrashing over Milwall in South London only enhanced their credentials.

As per the table provided by Opta Stats, the 26-year-old was the instigator behind his side’s destruction of Ian Holloway’s men with a wonderful attacking performance.
Playing just behind the front two in his favoured playmaker role, the Whites’ former two-time Player of the Year netted twice– his first a delightful run followed by an unstoppable 25-yard drive.
Aside from his goals, he took three shots in total, completed two take-ons and was busy throughout, illustrated by his 49 touches and 28 accurate passes.
Yet, arguably his most impressive contribution during his side’s victory over the Lions was his eagerness to track back and defend from the front, recording four ball recoveries.
It was all in all a comfortable afternoon for Alex Neil’s side, and their seventh win in eight Championship encounters has seen the side rise to within one point of the automatic promotion zone.
With just 10 games remaining and one point separating the top five teams, Norwich will be looking to Howson for further inspiration starting with next weekend’s key clash at home to Derby County.
