Leeds United's season worst stat in win v Wigan - Are the team blameless?

Leeds United were inaccurate with their passing against Wigan, but ultimately it mattered little.

Leeds United recorded their lowest pass completion of the season so far at the weekend, but were still able to put together a 1-0 win.

Only 56 per cent of their total passes connected between teammates, and the poor playing surface was likely a large contributing factor.

Head coach Neil Redfearn told the Yorkshire Evening Post ahead of the game that he expected the pitch to make life difficult for them, and clearly it did just that.

It makes their win, a seventh in the last 10 Championship games for the club, look even better, but it has been a bit of a trend for them lately.

The three games Leeds have recorded their lowest pass completion rate, have all come during this stretch, and are matches in which they have emerged victorious.

It displays that the Championship is more than ever a division where substance over style is what matters, a message often put out by Neil Redfearn during his press conferences, and stated desire to get players in who know the league and what is required.

Intriguingly, the game in which Leeds played their 'prettiest' football and passed the ball most neatly came in Darko Milanic's first game as head coach, a match the club lost 2-0 at Brentford.
