Napoli are set to rival Newcastle United for Jeremy Toulalan this summer, according to a report on TalkSPORT.
It is suggested that Toulalan has been identified as a potential summer addition for Newcastle as his contract is expiring at his current club Monaco, but competition for his signature is hotting up.
Inter Milan are said to be keen on signing Toulalan, according to Sky Sports, whilst Napoli's reported interest today throws even more doubt over his next destination.
If it is to be St. James' Park then Toulalan would represent a signal of intent for Newcastle and his arrival would likely appease some of their supporters' concerns.
The Magpies have shown a lack of ambition in recent transfer windows, but bringing in a player of Toulalan's quality would certainly improve their squad.
Although he is 31-years-old, he still remains a classy operator and he would bring creativity and composure to their midfield ranks.
At the moment John Carver's side posses a lot of energetic midfielders, but with Siem de Jong struggling to stay off the treatment table, they lack a deep-lying playmaker and Toulalan could fill this void in their squad next campaign.
