Celtic manager Ronny Deila did not look happy during his team’s 1-1 draw in the Scottish Cup quarter-final against Dundee United yesterday.
The Norwegian was forced to watch on as Virgil van Dijk suffered a red card and Dundee United scored a penalty, which many will believe shouldn’t have been awarded in the first place.
Fortunately, Leigh Griffiths popped up with the goods in the second half to earn the team an important replay.
Celtic fought admirably yesterday and showed plenty of fighting quality, but Deila looked underwhelmed at his team’s start to the game and the red card, which was shown to his defender.
There was a coming together between van Dijk and a Dundee United player, which looked innocuous in real time, but the referee didn’t like the situation and confrontations, which took place as a result.
Van Dijk is a very experienced and very imposing defender for any forward to play against and the Bhoys will miss him during his resulting suspension.
As far as Deila’s concerned, it will be a case of responding positively heading into the next game.
