Michael Owen has predicted in his Betvictor.com column that Manchester United will progress to the semi-finals of the FA Cup at the expense of Arsenal.
United will host their Premier League rivals at Old Trafford in the quarter-finals of the prestigious competition tonight.
“The tie of the round and both sides know this is their only realistic chance of silverware this term; holders Arsenal showed at the Etihad earlier in the season that they have it in their locker to beat the very best on the road but United have home advantage and that might be the key,” former United and Liverpool striker Owen wrote on Betvictor.com.
A footnote added: “Michael’s recommendation: United to win at 29/20”.
Could Michael Owen’s prediction come true?
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has himself pointed out that playing at home will give United “an advantage” (click here to read more), and indeed that will play a part.
The Red Devils’ performances have not been very convincing of late, but they remain a force to be reckoned it, especially at home.
Manager Louis van Gaal knows how much the FA Cup means to the fans, and that it is the only chance of him winning a major trophy in his debut season as the United boss.
However, Arsenal are used to playing at Old Trafford and will know what to expect from the home team’s supporters.
The first goal could well be the key. If Arsenal find the target early in the game, then pressure will be huge on United.
