Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown told a fan in a question and answer session for Kicca that he doesn’t expect Arsene Wenger to go anywhere at the end of the season.
The fan asked Keown whether he felt Wenger should either be sacked or move on from his role with the Gunners if he fails to win a trophy with the club this season.
“If Arsenal don't win anything, it won't alter Arsene's mind-set, he'll be there for the duration of his contract and planning for the long-term,” said Keown.
“Things are evening themselves out as far as FFP is concerned and he's putting the club in a position for them to go from strength to strength.”
Arsenal still have a good chance of silverware this season, as they prepare to take on Manchester United in the FA Cup.
The FA Cup is arguable the club’s best chance of a trophy this season, with the club facing a bit too much of a challenge in the Champions League and a bit too far behind in the Premier League title race.
The Gunners trail Monaco 3-1 in their Champions League tie and are nine points behind Chelsea, currently top of the Premier League.
Wenger signed a new three-year deal with the Gunners last summer and Keown is backing him to wind that down unless the club pushes him towards the exit door.
Some physical success will improve his standing and position, but Arsenal are at least looking good for something fans have become accustomed to under Wenger; a top four place and qualification into the Champions League.
