Manchester United round-up: Rooney’s motivation and star puts house up for sale

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

Manchester United take on Arsenal at Old Trafford this evening in a FA Cup quarter-final that could have huge ramifications for both clubs.

The Gunners are looking to defend their trophy while United are seeking their first bit of silverware in two seasons.

In the build-up to the match, United manager Louis van Gaal has been speaking about the club’s captain Wayne Rooney.

In comments published by ESPN, the Dutchman said, “I don’t know how Rooney will motivate the dressing room but I think he shall do that because he is very motivated as a captain and a player.”

Rooney has impressed since being played back in his more natural position up front for United, and it would be a surprise if he was not there again tonight.

In other news, the Daily Mail reports that United’s club-record signing Angel Di Maria has put his house up for sale following an attempted burglary earlier this season.

According to the report, the property is now on the market for £4.1million and that Di Maria’s United future is in doubt.

Although it does add that the Argentine has maintained that he is happy in Manchester.
