A selection of the latest stories in the media involving Tottenham Hotspur this Monday evening.
Jan Vertonghen has described next weekend's game against Manchester United as 'massive' in the race for the Champions League places.
Tottenham moved to within two points of United after a 2-1 win over Queens Park Rangers at the weekend and has said they will go to Old Trafford with confidence, and also holds some optimism about the run-in, with several of their remaining games coming against sides in the bottom half of the table.
He told the London Evening Standard: “Next week’s game is massive for both teams. We took six points from the games against Swansea and QPR last week and we’re closer to the big teams again.
“After we play United, we have a better run of games that we have to win – but in our current form, we can go to Old Trafford with confidence and hopefully we can win.”
The win against Queens Park Rangers meant it was back-to-back wins for Spurs after their League Cup final disappointment. Though they may not have any silverware to show for their efforts this season, the side is firmly in the hunt to finish in the Champions League places.
“It was important to bounce back after Wembley. We had two wins this week and it will give us confidence for the next few matches.
“Every game is important at this time of the season so we have to carry on and try to get as many points as possible.”
