Danny Welbeck scored the winner for Arsenal in the FA Cup quarter-final tie against Manchester United at Old Trafford this evening.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been singing the praises of Danny Welbeck on BBC Sport.

England international striker Welbeck was on target for the Gunners against Manchester United in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup this evening.

The 24-year-old scored Arsenal’s second goal just past the hour mark to put the North London outfit 2-1 in the lead.

It was Welbeck’s first goal against United since leaving the Manchester outfit in the summer of 2014, and it proved to be the winner.

Welbeck has now praised the Englishman and claims that he “deserved” his goal.

“We had to start without apprehension and play at a a high pace and we did that well,” the Frenchman told BBC Sport. “Danny Welbeck, I believe is just happy to score. He worked extremely hard today and deserved his goal.”

Welbeck did indeed work hard against his former club and took his goal extremely well, showing the kind of touch that has often been missing for the United strikers this season.

The striker has not been in exactly great form this season, having scored just four goals in 20 Premier League matches.

However, the Arsenal man has created 27 chances and has a pass accuracy of 82%, while winning 50% of the duels.
