Nottingham Forest fans react on Twitter to Michael Mancienne performance v Middlesbrough

Michael Mancienne impressed in a holding midfield role against Boro yesterday.

Nottingham Forest's exceptional run of form under new boss Dougie Freedman yesterday continue as they defeated title chasing Middlesbrough at the City Ground.

Goals from Gary Gardner, another cracker from him, and Dexter Blackstock saw them fight back after going 1-0 down earlier in the game courtesy of a Grant Leadbitter strike.

On the day there were certainly plenty of Forest performances that caught the eye. Gardner was again immense in midfield and Blackstock continues to impress in the lone striker role.

Eric Lichaj had a strong game at left-back while Michail Antonio was his usual dangerous self.

However, the player causing the most fuss on Twitter after the game was Michael Mancienne. The former Chelsea youngster started the game in holding midfield and was impressive throughout.

He was what you's call a Stuart Pearce signing and has found it tough since Freedman took over. But recently he has worked his way back into the team and the majority of fans were impressed.

Some still are not sure about him in midfield. They would prefer to see him in his more usual position at the heart of defence. But after yesterday's performance, he might just be making the holding midfield role his own.

Here is some of the reaction from Twitter...
