Liverpool bid €25m for Barcelona’s Pedro last summer - Spanish media

Pedro Rodriguez

Sport state that the Merseyside outfit had a major offer for the Spain international turned back before this season.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Barcelona attacker Pedro over the years, with the Spain international’s future at Camp Nou a point of contention in the British media.

Sport have today stated that Brendan Rodgers’ side made an attempt to bring the sprightly forward to Anfield ahead of this season, offering €25 million for Pedro.

Although the 28-year-old stayed with his boyhood club last summer, there is more chance of a potential Camp Nou exit at the end of this season as his first-team opportunities have dried up.

With Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar forming an enviable forward line for the Catalan powerhouses, Pedro has found first team chances hard to come by in Luis Enrique’s side.

He has only started 11 La Liga games this season, scoring five goals in the process.

Inevitably the experienced winger will be frustrated by the lack of regular action with the Blaugrana, which could allow the Reds to revisit their interest in the star.

Since graduating from Barcelona’s fabled La Masia youth academy Pedro has won four La Liga titles, two Champions Leagues and two Copa del Rey titles with the Spanish giants.
