Leeds United edged past Wigan Athletic 1-0 at the DW Stadium in the Championship on Saturday.
Leeds United made it two wins out of two in the Championship on Saturday when they got the better of Wigan Athletic 1-0 away from home.
The West Yorkshire outfit headed into the clash at the DW Stadium on the back of a 2-1 victory over promotion-chasing Ipswich Town at Elland Road.
After a goalless first half, Leeds took the lead in the opening minutes of the second period when Alex Mowatt found the target.
The 20-year-old midfielder broke the deadlock in the 51st minute with a left-footed effort from the edge of the penalty box.
Both Wigan and and Leeds had chances throughout the 90 minutes, but it was Neil Redfearn’s side who picked up the three points.
Statistically, though, the Latics were the better team. The hosts had 58% of the possession, 19 shots of which three were on target, and nine corners.
On the other hand, Leeds had 42% of the possession, nine shots of which three were on target, and just one corner. However, it was the Whites who scored, and that is all that matters.
The win has lifted Leeds up to 13th in the Championship table with 47 points from 36 matches.
Following the result, the Leeds players took to social networking site Twitter to revel in the success.
