Liverpool were held to a goalless draw by Blackburn Rovers at Anfield in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

Jamie Carragher has taken to social networking site Twitter to hail the performance of Blackburn Rovers against Liverpool this evening.

Championship side Blackburn held the Reds to a goalless draw at Anfield in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

In what proved to an entertaining match, Rovers stepped up their game and gave Liverpool a run for their money.

Gary Bowyer’s side had just 30% of the possession, four shots of which only one was on target, and three corners.

In contrast, Liverpool had 70% of the possession, 21 shots of which four were on target, and eight corners.

The fact that Blackburn stopped Liverpool from scoring and went close is something that the Championship club’s fans can be proud of.

Former Liverpool defender Carragher was following the game, and he was impressed with what he saw of Rovers.

Almost 6,000 Rovers fans were at Anfield for the tie, and they must be going home very happy.

The replay will be played at Ewood Park, and one suspects that Blackburn will be confident of winning it.
