The 21-year-old Leeds star was full of praise for his team-mate after the 1-0 win at Wigan on Saturday afternoon.

Charlie Taylor has heaped praise on Leeds United's match-winner against Wigan Athletic on Saturday afternoon, according to BBC Radio Leeds.

That match-winner - Alex Mowatt - scored his eighth goal of the Championship season, with the three points he ultimately secured for the Yorkshire side lifting them up to 13th in the table and just three points off 10th.

And Taylor is delighted his 20-year-old team-mate has already delivered so often for Leeds this season.

As well as scoring the winner, Mowatt produced another classy all-round performance at Wigan, adding to a string of fine displays this term - although the youngster did suffer a blip in form a few weeks ago.

However, the nature of his strike surprised Taylor. Mowatt, predominately a left-footed player, netted with a first-time shot on his right foot against the Latics - and the 21-year-old admits he hasn't seen him hit too many like that with his weaker foot.

"Billy [Sharp] squared it to Alex and it was a great finish on his right foot. I've not seen him hit any like that on his right before!" he said.

"It was a great strike from him and he's delivered so many times this season."

Next up for Leeds is a Championship clash with Nottingham Forest next weekend, before Neil Redfearn's men travel to Fulham and Blackpool for back-to-back away trips.
