DW Stadium - Wigan Athletic

Alex Mowatt’s goal in the second half at the DW Stadium proved to be enough for visiting Leeds United to win the Championship clash against Wigan Athletic.

Leeds United have made it two wins in a row in the Championship with a 1-0 victory over Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium.

Sol Bamba had the first chance of the game at the DW Stadium as early as the ninth minute when he turned a Luke Murphy header towards the Wigan goal, but it was saved.

Alex Mowatt came close with a shot from distance on 14 minutes, but he failed to keep his attempt on target.

Wigan’s Sheyi Ojo had a chance with a header just minutes later, before Charlie Taylor came close for Leeds on 25 minutes.

Steve Morison and Gaetano Berardi had chances for the Whites towards the end of the first half, while minutes after the restart James McClean came close for Wigan.

Leeds eventually took the lead on 51 minutes when Mowatt shot home with his right foot from inside the Wigan penalty box.

Wigan stepped up their game thereafter, as Emmerson Boyce, McClean and Perch all had chances, but the Latics failed to stage a comeback.
