La Liga latest: Spurs monitor 18-goal Argentine, Madrid make big Chicharito decision

All the latest news from Spain’s top flight.

According to the latest reports in Marca, Tottenham Hotspur have joined Liverpool in the race for exciting Villarreal attacker Luciano Vietto.

The Argentine ace, dubbed ‘the next Sergio Aguero’, has been lighting up La Liga this season, putting in a number of top quality performances and earning widespread acclaim.

Real Madrid and Liverpool are said to be keen admirers, as reported by the Daily Mail, and his agent Jorge Cysterpiller has talked up a possible move to the Premier League.

However, it appears the Reds aren’t the only English team eyeing the 18-goal marksman as Marca report Spurs as one of a number of other clubs taking an interest.

The Lilywhites will be keen to bolster their squad in the summer and a new striker to play alongside Harry Kane will be high on Mauricio Pochettino’s wish list.

In other news, Real Madrid have decided not to pursue a permanent deal for Manchester United’s Javier Hernandez beyond his loan spell which expires at the end of June, the report in Marca confirms.

The Mexican international traded the Red Devils for the Spanish capital in the summer, joining Carlo Ancelotti’s side on a season-long loan deal.

However, the striker has failed in his attempts to dislodge Karim Benzema as the regular number 9 and the return of Jese Rodriguez from a long-term injury layoff has seen Chicharito fall further out of the picture.

The 26-year-old may still have a future at Old Trafford should Radamel Falcao fail to earn himself a permanent move to Manchester, but his Madrid dream now appears all-but over.
