The England international has been injured since last April with a serious knee problem.

Last season it looked as though Southampton forward Jay Rodriguez was making a late surge to be part of the England team for the World Cup in Brazil.

The former Burnley star was in sensational form, scoring 17 goals by the end of March, when disaster struck.

He suffered a serious knee injury against Manchester City 11 months ago and has not played since. The England international was scheduled to be back before the new year but he has suffered setbacks in his recovery and at this rate, it will be a surprise if he makes it back before the end of the season.

However, he has been snapped with the Southampton players this week.

Southampton are not in action this weekend as they are out of the FA Cup.

With that in mind, Ronald Koeman wants to perhaps toughen his players up a bit, as he has taken them to the cold climbs of Davos in the Swiss Alps.

The trip is being called a team-building exercise by the club, with no football training actually possible in the snow-filled town. Instead they have done cross country skiing, a bit of ice hockey and even some singing.

J-Rod was more than welcome with the rest of the gang, and Southampton defender Maya Yoshida shared a picture of the attacker with the rest of the squad last night as they headed home from their enjoyable time abroad.

Southampton fans will now hope to see him playing football again very soon.
