Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse will miss the next seven matches due to a ban imposed by the Football Association, as confirmed by BBC Sport.
The 29-year-old has been found guilty of spitting at Manchester United defender Jonny Evans during the two sides’ Premier League game at St. James’ Park on Wednesday.
The Senegal international, who had accepted his part in the incident with Evans prior to the ban, will miss games against Everton (A), Arsenal (H), Sunderland (A), Liverpool (A), Tottenham Hotspur (H), Swansea City (H) and Leicester City (A).
Cisse has been given a seven-match ban, while Northern Ireland international Evans has been suspended for six games.
The Newcastle striker is suspended for an extra match as he was banned in December for elbowing Everton's Seamus Coleman.
The former Metz star has been an important player for Newcastle this season, scoring 11 goals and creating five chances in 19 Premier League appearances.
Cisse also has a pass accuracy of 78% and a shot accuracy of 56%, while he has won 31% of the duels.
Following the news of Cisse’s ban, Newcastle fans took to social networking site Twitter to have their say.

@NUFC I hope Evans receives a worse punishment for a) starting it and b) denying it.— DickTVShowOfficial (@DickTVShow) March 5, 2015
I'd happily take Austin when QPR go down #nufc we need a goal scorer Cisse has done well but I think his time is coming to an end— Chris Currie (@Wig82) March 7, 2015
Still seeing tweets about Cisse getting a longer ban, read into and you will know why. Both him and Evans are idiots and deserve it #nufc— TheTalkofTheToon (@TalkofTheToon1) March 7, 2015
