Neil Redfearn delivers update on Granddi Ngoyi - it's not promising

Neil Redfearn

The Leeds boss has been discussing the 26-year-old midfielder's fitness.

Neil Redfearn admits Leeds United need January loan signing Granddi Ngoyi fit but says it may not be a possibility in the near future, according to BBC Radio Leeds.

The 26-year-old midfielder is yet to make an impact at Elland Road since joining Leeds during the January transfer window, unlike Sol Bamba - who has impressed considerably.

As Ngoyi bids to step up his fitness, though, Redfearn says there are two games with Leeds' Under-21s he may be able to take part in this week - providing he is fit.

Redfearn did not sound too optimistic as he spoke of the midfielder's fitness, however, even though he admits the Yorkshire side need as many people fit as possible.

"We've got a couple of games that he could be involved in. We've got a game on Monday and another Under-21 game on Friday against Nottingham Forest," the 49-year-old said.

"So there's a couple of games there where, if he's anywhere near available, we'll try and give him some came time - even if it's half an hour - because obviously we could do with getting as many people fit as we could."

Leeds are certainly faring well without Ngoyi, especially in midfield as Alex Mowatt continues to steal the show for Redfearn's men.

Should the forgotten January signing be able to play for the Under-21s this week, though, it will be intriguing to see whether he can still make his mark at Elland Road, with the business end of the Championship campaign fast approaching.
