Gary Neville on Angel Di Maria's biggest problem at Manchester United

The Manchester United icon has been discussing what's going wrong for the Argentine at Old Trafford.

Former Manchester United right-back Gary Neville feels Angel Di Maria is still suffering psychologically from being sold by his dream club Real Madrid, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Neville has been discussing what exactly is going wrong for the Argentine at Old Trafford, where he is enjoying a far-from-perfect debut campaign.

In his analysis, the current Sky Sports pundit has come to several conclusions. The burglary on Di Maria's house earlier this season has no doubt affected his game.

But a big factor holding the Manchester United man back, according to Neville, is the fact that he never wanted to leave Real Madrid - but was forced to last summer.

"Within days of signing for United, Di Maria released a letter to Real Madrid supporters insisting it was never his wish to leave the Bernabeu," the 42-year-old said.

"Having grown up in and around Manchester as a United supporter, it is easy to regard the club as the biggest in the world but we have to accept that, as a South American, playing for Real Madrid or Barcelona is probably the fantasy of every footballer from that part of the world and Di Maria has moved to England after being told he was not wanted at his dream club."

Manchester United face a huge FA Cup quarter-final clash against Arsenal at Old Trafford on Monday night, where supporters will expect only the very best from Louis van Gaal's side.

Should United get knocked out at home, they will still have the Premier League battle for a top-four place to fight - but a business end of the season without Man United realistically vying for a trophy would be an alien concept, especially for the second campaign in a row...
