Former Arsenal target Michy Batshuayi nets twice in Marseille rout

The Belgian forward is starting to make a name for himself in France and netted twice in the 6-1 win over Toulouse.

Arsenal were being heavily linked with Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi in his Standard Liege days, by the Mirror, with the gifted frontman admitting that the North London outfit were his ‘dream club’ back in 2013.

However, Batshuayi was snapped up by French side Marseille in the summer and is clearly starting to find his feet in Ligue 1.

The 21-year-old initially found first-team football difficult to come by at the Stade Velodrome, but has been given the nod by coach Marcelo Bielsa in recent weeks.

After scoring a brace against St Etienne at the end of last month, Batshuayi has added a further two goals to his season tally.

Marseille put Toulouse to the sword last night, winning 6-1 to bolster their Ligue 1 title ambitions.

Batshuayi scored two of his side’s goals, netting the first of the game after only two minutes and adding a second on the stroke of half-time.

Despite only starting five Ligue 1 games this season, the Belgian star now has six goals to his name and looks set to play an important role in Marseille’s bid to become French champions this term.
