The Seagulls are down a left-sided player after the knee injury to Sam Baldock.

Brighton and Hove Albion were dealt a massive blow this morning, with the news from the club that star attacker Sam Baldock is set to miss the rest of the campaign with a knee injury.

A statement on the official club site reads:

Brighton & Hove Albion striker Sam Baldock is likely to miss the rest of the season after sustaining a knee injury against Derby County on Tuesday night.

Baldock, despite playing put of position for much of the season, has scored more goals than any of the strikers at Brighton and the club must be considering replacing him if they are to continue their fight against relegation from the league.

He has played most of this season on the left-hand side of midfield so Brighton would be wise to consider a move for another player in this position from the emergency loan window.

So who could they snap up?

Here are five potential options for The Seagulls boss Chris Hughton to consider:

Tom Lawrence - Leicester City

The Leicester left-winger has struggled for football since leaving Manchester United and has previously shone in the Championship during a loan spell at Yeovil Town.

He would represent a like for like switch with Baldock.

Kenji Gorre - Swansea City

Another former Manchester United youngster, this one now plies his trade for Swansea City. A very skilful option who impressed in pre-season for The Swans.

Cristian Ceballos - Tottenham Hotspur

The Spanish winger is highly rated at Spurs but at 22-years-old his time at the club seems up.

Brighton have a good record with Spanish players, could Ceballos be the latest.

Jacob Murphy - Norwich City

The Norwich City youngster will be well known to Hughton from his time at Carrow Road. He impressed at Blackpool earlier this season in a deal that swiftly went sour.

Could the Amex be his next destination?

Jerome Thomas - Crystal Palace

The most experienced of the pack. The 31-year-old is not playing at the moment for Crystal Palace and would certainly relish regular first-team football.
