Forest bounced back from Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat to Charlton Athletic at The Valley with a 2-1 victory over Middlesborough at home today.
It was Middlesbrough who took the lead at the City Ground in the 27th minute when Grant Leadbitter's cross ended up in the net.
However, Dougie Freedman’s side launched a comeback and scored twice to pick up all three points.
Gary Gardner equalised for the Reds in the 34th minute when he shot home from distance, and Dexter Blackstock scored the winner midway through the second half on his 150th appearance for the Nottingham-based outfit.
Forest chairman Al-Hasawi was delighted with the team’s win and posted the following message on Twitter.
A spectacular win today against Middlesbrough, 2-1! A big thank you to Dougie and all the fans for their support! #nffc— @FAWAZ_ALHASAWI (@fawaz_alhasawi1) March 7, 2015
Victory over promotion-chasing Middlesbrough has once again rekindled Forest’s slim hopes of finishing in the top six of the Championship this season.
The Reds are still ninth in the league table, but they now have collected 53 points from 36 matches and are nine points behind sixth-placed Brentford.
