The Argentine recently returned from testicular cancer treatment to play for Newcastle.
On Wednesday Newcastle United midfielder Jonas Gutierrez completed a quite remarkable comeback. The Argentine came on in the 65th minute of Newcastle's tie with Manchester United at St James Park and it was the first time he played since featuring for Norwich City during a loan spell in April 2014.
He was of course not out through injury, but illness, after being diagnosed with testicular cancer in October 2013. He left the game in April to undergo chemotherapy and, nearly a year later, made his astonishing comeback.
His tale has obviously seen plenty of fans, pundits and fellow players send him well wishes on the web, but perhaps none bigger than the the one he received yesterday.
But the fellow Argentine has been an international team-mate of Gutierrez with the Albiceleste and he decided to send a message to the Newcastle winger on his official Facebook page:
A nice touch from one of the world's best to congratulate this Newcastle United hero.
