Sheffield Wednesday confirmed on their official website on Thursday that midfielder Giles Coke had left Hillsborough in order to join Championship rivals Bolton Wanderers.
The 28-year-old has penned a loan deal with Neil Lennon's Trotters, and will stay at the Macron Stadium until the end of the season.
The 2010 signing from Motherwell has struggled for first team football this season, and hasn't played for the Owls since the 8th of November when Wednesday faced Rotherham.
With plenty of competition for places, Coke has decided to move on in a bid to gain first team football with Bolton in a move which could signal the end of his career at Wednesday.
His contract at Hillsborough is set to expire at the end of this season, and the move to Bolton appears to be the first step towards his inevitable exit.
Wednesday fans reacted on Twitter after the deal was confirmed, and seemed to be surprised that Coke managed to seal a move to a fellow Championship club having struggled to make an impact this season.
Some noted that he is in fact a good player but a move away was the best thing for him to do at this stage of his career, with supporters wishing him the best of luck at Bolton.

Coke has no future at the club if we're moving forward. Loaned out and will be released in the summer #swfc— Jordan Leigh (@Jordrl66) March 5, 2015
Just seen the news that Giles Coke has joined Bolton on loan for the remainder of the season, never saw that coming. Best of luck Giles.— George (@Georgeswfcsmith) March 5, 2015
Giles coke out on loan, strange one as I thought he was injured but completely out the blue, on his day a good player— Kieran Hukin (@themunchkin2011) March 5, 2015
People saying they didn't expect coke to go on loan bolton, what did you expect? Him to start the next game or something? Coke or Mcgugan?— luke james fenlon (@lukefenlonswfc) March 5, 2015
