The QPR man, who was signed from Tottenham by Harry Redknapp, has effectively been succeeded by the young duo at White Hart Lane.
Bentaleb, meanwhile, was a member of the north London side's first XI last term but has really made his mark under Pochettino this campaign.
And, ahead of Tottenham's visit to QPR this Saturday afternoon, Sandro says there is more to his former club than just Harry Kane, heaping praise on the 'excellent' duo that now play in his position.
"Kane has been getting all the headlines but in the middle they are strong as well. Ryan Mason and Nabil Bentaleb have been excellent this season," the Brazilian said.
"They have come up through the Under-21s, so I know them very well because when I was there, they started to grow up. I feel very happy for them because they are doing a good job. But now I have to stop them."
QPR and Tottenham are both in huge need of a Premier League win this weekend but for very different reasons.
Considering the form of Liverpool and Arsenal - and the threat posed by Manchester United and Southampton - Spurs need every point they can get if they are to make a success of their campaign by challenging for a place in the top four.
For QPR, though, the stakes are raised at the opposite end of the table, with the threat of relegation drawing ever closer.
