Neil Redfearn believes Charlie Taylor gives Leeds United 'another option'

The left-back recently filled in at left-wing against Ipswich Town.

Leeds United travel to Wigan on Saturday afternoon, hoping to build on their win over Ipswich Town last time out.

That game saw Neil Redfearn take a risk with his formation and player set-up. He utilised Charlie Taylor in the left-wing position, with Liam Cooper filling in at left-back.

It is a ploy he has used for much of the current campaign with Sam Byram on the opposite side of the field. Leeds are desperately short of wide options so it is something born out of necessity, rather than experimentation.

But the creative use of his full-backs appears to have worked, they beat Ipswich Town in midweek after all.

Redfearn has now been speaking to the press ahead of the game at Wigan on Saturday. In his weekly press conference at Thorp Arch he spoke about the performance of Taylor, and how he now gives him another wide option.

Here are his quotes from the official Leeds United Twitter account:

Of course he would like more wingers. But the season is coming to an end and the threat of relegation seems beyond them. With little chance of the play-offs, the Leeds hierarchy are probably hopeful of seeing out the season without any more players coming in.

So expect to see plenty more of Taylor on the left-hand side of midfield.
