A round up of news stories this morning related to Manchester United.
The paper claims that the Chilean attacker will be available this summer, with several sides thought to be interested in signing him.
The Serie A giants will reportedly accept a fee in the region of £14.4 million for him to leave.
Manchester United legend Paul Scholes suggested in his column for the Independent that Jonny Evans wasn’t spitting at Newcastle’s Papiss Cisse.
Scholes has suggested Evans’ reaction, when TV footage showed him to spit, was nothing more than a reflex.
Scholes claims that Evans’ transfixed look on the striker was out of fear that he could have taken things further.
“As he does so (getting up) he is watching Cissé, probably because he suspects that his opponent is still angry and might go for him one more time,” wrote Scholes.
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has been quoted by the Belfast Telegraph dismissing the idea that he has a bad relationship with Ryan Giggs.
Friction between the pair has been assumed following the win against Newcastle earlier this week.
“I am very irritated at this question because everyone can see we have a very good relationship. We work very hard together,” said the Dutchman.
Giggs had a brief spell in charge as manager of United towards the end of last season.
