Liverpool morning round-up, Lallana keen to avoid cup upset, hails Henderson

A selection of the latest stories in the media involving Liverpool Football Club this Friday morning.

Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana has said he is determined to ensure that the club do not become the latest victims of an FA Cup upset this season when they take on Blackburn Rovers at Anfield on Sunday.

The Reds are strong favourites to make it to Wembley against the Championship side as they look to pick up their first piece of silverware under Brendan Rodgers.

Liverpool will go into the game in the knowledge that one of their main rivals to lift the trophy will be knocked out when Manchester United take on Arsenal at Old Trafford on Monday night.

Lallana is quoted in the Liverpool Echo, saying: “A lot of the big guns went out in the early rounds so it is good that we can maybe capitalise on that but Blackburn will not be an easy game.

“They will come here full of optimism and will want to cause an upset."

The Ex-Southampton man also took the time to praise Jordan Henderson for his contribution, and the way he has improved over the last two years.

Henderson has been in terrific form in the absence of Steven Gerrard - taking over the captain's armband in the meantime - and his progress was illustrated with his two starring displays against both Manchester City and Burnley this week, where he scored two spectacular goals to help keep the Reds firmly in the hunt for the top four places.

Lallana is quoted in the Daily Mirror, saying: “He’s unbelievable. For me, he has matured as a player over the last two years and kicked on to another level, even with the armband"
