West Ham United defender Winston Reid has spoken of his excitement for the future after signing a new deal at the Boleyn Ground.
Reid put pen to paper on a six and a half year contract this morning and the centre-back is now looking forward to the years ahead.
His commitment is a sign of the progress that West Ham have made this season, considering some of the reported interest in him.
Reid had been linked with both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal throughout the season in the Daily Mail, but he has shown his loyalty to West Ham by signing a new deal.
He has also highlighted his commitment on social media site Twitter, where he spoke about what was a 'special time' ahead for the Hammers.
Thank you for all the kind messages I'm very happy to be able to be staying here the upcoming seasons will be so exciting with everything— Winston Reid (@WinstonReid2) March 5, 2015
Going on in and around the club, it's a special time for everyone so look forward to being a part of it and staying here #COYI— Winston Reid (@WinstonReid2) March 5, 2015
West Ham are moving into the Olympic Stadium in the imminent future, whilst owners David Sullivan and David Gold have spoken about their desire to guide the London club into the Champions League.
It seems that these factors had some sway in Reid's decision to stay and Hammers fans will be delighted that they can start to build their team around the New Zealander.
Reid is one of West Ham's finest centre-backs and their ability to keep him, despite reported interest from top-four chasers, proves that they are an attractive club at this moment in time.
