Tottenham Hotspur are being linked with two potential deals, which make little sense for the club.
The winter window may be long closed but Tottenham Hotspur continue to be linked with potential summer transfers, which guarantee a real shake up at White Hart Lane.
However, two of the freshest don’t make any sense at all.
He’ll be a familiar name to some Tottenham fans because he’s been linked with the club before, but he’s not the answer.
The reports suggests that up to two attacking players may have to leave before Lacazette comes in, which leaves Mauricio Pochettino with a hell of a lot of work to do for a player who is not going to transform the face of Tottenham’s attack.
If Spurs are going to sign a forward this summer, they need someone who is going to challenge Harry Kane seriously for his place in the side.
A higher profile and bigger name, if the club can pull off a deal, would keep Kane on his toes and provide Pochettino with a reliable option when the England man is not available.
Moving onto rumour number two and the confusing case of Ignacio Camacho, linked with Spurs by Spanish publication Marca.
A feisty and dynamic holding midfielder may sound ideal, but there are two reasons Tottenham might not go anywhere near him.
Firstly, they don’t need him. It speaks volumes of the strength in their midfield when the two defensive midfielders at the club, Benji Stambouli and Etienne Capoue, can’t force their way into the team.
Secondly, they have more pressing needs to add players in other positions such as a high profile striker and a winger to come in and give balance to the team alongside Andros Townsend.
It’s easy to see the excitement in these rumours but unfortunately the practicality is very difficult to spot.
