Alex Mowatt was in joyous mood as he celebrated his opener for Leeds United with Giuseppe Bellusci last night.
Little did the 20-year-old know that his goal was just the start of a dramatic finish at Elland Road, although what unfolded did not ultimately change the outcome of a one-goal Leeds win against Ipswich Town.
Mowatt had given his side the lead late in the second half against Mick McCarthy's Ipswich, only for the visitors to hit back within minutes, capitalising on a Marco Silvestri error.
But Billy Sharp then struck - again just minutes later - to give hosts Leeds a 2-1 lead they would not relinquish.
The drama didn't stop at the other end, as Silvestri atoned for his error with a late penalty save, but United held out and continued their season-long trend of beating teams high up in the Championship table.
Last weekend, Neil Redfearn's men encountered a rare loss when playing a promotion contender after blowing a 2-0 lead against Watford - but this result will have righted that wrong somewhat, getting Leeds back to winning ways after two straight defeats.
