Leeds United got back on track with an important win last night against Ipswich, prevailing 2-1 after a manic ten minute spell in the second half where all three goals were scored.
Here are five things we learned about Leeds last night.
Hats off to the team’s mental strength
A couple of recent setbacks hasn’t affected the team’s mentality or the way they play. They showed plenty of fight last night to force their way to a win when other sides may have tried to see the game out for a point.
Is Sharp now the main man up front?
Billy Sharp added another goal to his collection, backing up his effort against Watford last weekend. He’s doing what Steve Morison couldn’t, which is hitting the back of the net and that should be enough to keep him in the side.
Murphy looking transformed in midfield
Luke Murphy looked awesome in the middle of the team last night. He’s making things tick and playing with a level of maturity, which should keep him in the side over the rest of the season under Redfearn.
A talking point over the defence
It seemed at one point last night that all Ipswich were doing was launching high balls into the penalty area. Leeds’ back four dealt with it well and looked solid to the threat over the top, which bodes well for the rest of the season.
Credit to the manager
Redfearn was forced into a couple of changes last night, but he got the big calls right. He’s scrambling for ways to try and keep the defence balanced and the midfield fresh and he’s just about got it spot on at the moment.
