Benteke was the goalscoring hero earlier this week, scoring a last minute penalty against West Brom to secure a vital three points for the club.
“The one thing about Benteke is that he doesn’t get flustered, he may not be scoring or playing well but he doesn’t get flustered,” said Gray.
“Who knows, this may be what he needs to go and score six or seven goals before the end of the season.”
The significance of Benteke’s strike will certainly put a spring in his step looking ahead to the FA Cup game against the Baggies and then the return of the Premier League afterwards.
What Villa need at the moment is calm heads all over the pitch because of the intense pressure Villa are under as they fight to avoid relegation.
Benteke can help the younger players in the side to keep their calm during difficult periods during big games to ensure they don’t make mistakes.
Hopefully Benteke will be able to build on his goal against the Baggies and make the difference over the rest of the campaign, as Gray has suggested he can do.
If he can go on a goalscoring run it will not only improve his confidence, but will also help to take the pressure away from other players.
