Leeds United have returned to winning ways in the Championship with a narrow 2-1 victory over Ipswich Town at home.
The Whites headed into the clash at Elland Road on the back of a 3-2 home defeat to promotion-chasing Watford.
Ipswich are also in the running for a playoff spot, but the Tractor Boys failed to pick up even a point in West Yorkshire.
Although the first half was entertaining and both sides had chances, it failed to produce a goal.
Then in the 71st minute, Alex Mowatt put Leeds in the lead with a sensational free kick.
However, Ipswich did not lose heart and restored parity just minutes later through Freddie Sears, who turned in Kevin Bru’s pass from the left side of the home team’s penalty box.
Leeds, though, made it 2-1 soon after, with Billy Sharp finding the target from close range after meeting Lewis Cook’s cross.
Sol Bamba conceded a penalty for Leeds seven minutes from full time when he handled the ball inside his own penalty box.
However, Daryl Murphy failed to convert the spot kick as Marco Silvestri made a great save.
