The USA boss was happy to see his goalkeeper pick up a win.
It was also a first win as Villa boss for new manager Tim Sherwood.
They had plenty to thank the West Brom keeper for however. Ben Foster had a bad day at the office, a rare one for him in recent times, and was at fault for Christian Benteke's winner.
However the other custodian in the game, Aston Villa's Brad Guzan, came out of the game with little to tarnish his reputation.
He could do little about the Baggies goal and was generally solid, especially in comparison to the flawed performance of Foster at the opposite end of the pitch.
One man who took in the game with interest was former Tottenham striker and current USA soccer head coach Jurgen Klinsmann.
He was clearly pleased that his stopper did so well in the game and that he picked up all three points. He demonstrated so by sending this message to Guzan via Twitter.
The Villa keeper will continue to hope he is impressing his national boss, in order to cement his place as the number one goalie for the USMNT.
