Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Nabil Bentaleb has been speaking to the club’s official website about the upcoming match against Swansea City and the challenges facing his side for the rest of the season.
Tottenham lost 2-0 to Chelsea in the final of the Capital One Cup last weekend, just days after they were eliminated from the Europa League at the hands of Italian side Fiorentina.
But Bentaleb shone at Wembley and his latest comments are further proof of the maturity that belies his years – and points to a likely future as Tottenham’s captain.
Referring to his former teammates Gylfi Sigurdsson and Kyle Naughton, Bentaleb said, “Of course we know all about the qualities of Gylfi and Kyle and we’re aware that they can be dangerous, but we have to make sure that we play like we’ve played recently at White Hart Lane.”
The Algerian international has grown into a wonderful player for Tottenham and his performance in the League Cup final suggested he was about to get even better.
He may only be 20, but Bentaleb is a midfielder with talent, passion and confidence aplenty and not only is he playing like a captain-in-the-making but he is also speaking like one.
Rather than being down-hearted following Tottenham’s recent cup woe, Bentaleb has looked ahead to what could be a very bright future for Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
“I feel very confident about the challenges to come,” the midfielder said. “We just have to keep believing and hopefully we’ll be able to get the results we need and want.”
