The Australian keeper is the perfect replacement for Tim Howard.
In recent weeks Everton fans have become increasingly worried about the erratic form of goalkeeper Tim Howard. he American had a great World Cup in Brazil and is a nine year veteran at the club.
However his form has dwindled this season for The Toffees. He was poor versus Leicester City recently. He fumbled the cross for the first goal and fluffed his lines for the second.
But it has not just been this weekend he has been off. Against Chelsea his weak punch allowed Willian to score the winner. Against Young Boys in the first leg of their Europa League tie he was in a poor position for the Guillaume Hoarau strike. In general his performances this season have been below par.
With age also catching up with the stopper, soon enough Everton will need to act on a replacement.
The Club Brugge stopper was linked with a move to Liverpool by The Telegraph last month, as fears grew over the form of Simon Mignolet.
The Australian international even spoke about the move, telling the Malay Mail it was "very flattering" and that if it was "meant to be, something will happen in the future."
Since then Liverpool's interest may have cooled, considering the resurgence in form of Mignolet.
He is the perfect option for Everton. Brugge will not be able to demand big money for the player. At 22-years-old he is still young enough to improve as a player at Everton and he is renowned for his excellent distribution, something Roberto Martinez would certainly value.
When Everton see the light, and realise Howard is coming to the end game, they should look no further than this apparent Liverpool target to fill the void.
