Photos: Swansea City star Wayne Routledge's two-and-a-half year spell with Tottenham Hotspur

The Swansea winger struggled during his time at White Hart Lane.

The links between Tottenham and Swansea City are quite obvious. Swansea have Gylfi Sigurdsson, a former Spurs player. Tottenham have the likes of Ben Davies and Michel Vorm in their team - not forgetting Tom Carroll is at The Liberty City Stadium from White Hart Lane.

One player that won't immediately spring to mind for many is Wayne Routledge. The 30-year-old is now one of the stars of the Swansea team, but it is easy to forget his poor spell with Spurs earlier in his career.

He joined the club in 2005 from Crystal Palace after soaring with The Eagles.

Things immediately went bad for the then 20-year-old Routledge. He fractured his foot on his league debut for Spurs.

After just six months he was loaned out to Portsmouth before then being loaned out to Fulham the following summer, in a deal that saw Steed Malbranque join Spurs.

All in all, Routledge was at Tottenham for two-and-a-half years but played just five times for the club, scoring a grand total of no goals, before joining Aston Villa in 2008.

So when the two teams meet tonight expect Routledge to want the win perhaps a little more than his team-mates.
