The German international is looking like an injury prone dodged bullet at the moment.

Everyone knows that Arsenal FC have been chasing the talented 21-year-old playmaker Julian Draxler of Schalke 04 for the past couple of seasons.

The German international, who has a release clause of £37 million, has been on the radar of Arsene Wenger for the past 24 months and rumours of his arrival periodically do the rounds in the press.

In October The Mirror reported that Arsenal were all ready to meet his £37 million release clause.

But his form had dipped somewhat since the initial interest, however he had an excellent start to life under Roberto Di Matteo and it seemed as though he was going to play his way back into the transfer market.

Until he picked up yet another injury. He suffered a thigh injury against FC Augsburg at the end of October and he has not played since.

Today however he was snapped undergoing some light training. It would appear that Draxler is finally on the comeback trial after setbacks in his recovery and after four months is back in the frame.

The issue however is this. Arsenal may be big fans of the German, but they have enough players who cannot stay fit for longer than a month at a time. So far Draxler has proven himself to be a persistent injury threat. According to Transfermarkt, this is his third thigh strain in a little over a year.

With Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere and Mesut Ozil already frequent visitors to the medical room, Draxler is surely a bullet dodged for the time being.
