The former Manchester United and Liverpool striker believes that the Blues will not encounter much problem in the London derby at the Boleyn Ground.
Owen has also backed Spain international striker Diego Costa to score against West Ham tonight.
“As mentioned, West Ham let down last week’s ‘weekend wager’ losing 3-1 to Crystal Palace and Sam Allardyce’s side look destined to suffer a similar fate when hosting Champions-elect Chelsea at Upton Park,” the 35-year-old wrote on Betvictor.com.
“The Blues were comfortable in their Capital One Cup final defeat of Tottenham and can continue their excellent recent record against the Hammers, with manager Jose Mourinho unbeaten in seven games against the hosts and last season’s 1-1 draw his only blip on an otherwise 100% record.”
A footnote added: “Michael’s recommendation: Diego Costa to score anytime and Chelsea to win at 11/8”.
Will Chelsea win?
Chelsea will be firm favourites to win tonight, and it will come as a surprise if they fail to pick up all three points at the Boleyn Ground.
The Blues will head into the game on the back of a 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the final of the League Cup and are high on confidence.
West Ham’s recent form is very disappointing. Sam Allardyce’s side have won just once in 10 Premier League games since Christmas.
Will Diego Costa score?
Costa has been arguably the best striker in the Premier League so far this season and was on target against Spurs.
The 26-year-old has scored 17 goals and created 34 chances in 20 league appearances for Chelsea, while having a pass accuracy of 78% and a shot accuracy of 71%.
The former Atletico Madrid star is on song at the moment, and the West Ham defenders need to be very careful of him.
