Mark Lawrenson has predicted in his BBC Sport column that Wednesday’s Premier League clash between Newcastle United and Manchester United will end in a 1-1 draw.
The former Liverpool defender believes that Louis van Gaal’s United side will not find it easy at St. James’ Park and will have settle for a share of the spoils.
“Manchester United were beaten by Swansea in their last away game and I don't think they will find it easy at St James' Park either,” the 57-year-old wrote on BBC Sport.
Could Mark Lawrenson’s prediction come true?
United have not looked in good shape in recent weeks and have not played well for a long time.
Although the Red Devils have been picking up points steadily and are very much in contention for a top-four finish in the Premier League this season, they could indeed find it tough against the Magpies.
John Carver’s side returned to winning ways at the weekend when they edged past Aston Villa 1-0 at home.
It was not the most convincing of performances from Newcastle, but the victory will have certainly increased the players’ confidence.
Maybe Newcastle will not win against United, but they can certainly hold them to a draw.
