The Russia international has been starring this season on loan at Villarreal and would be an excellent addition for Spurs.
Tottenham have seen two of their best players head to Real Madrid in recent years, with Gareth Bale and Luka Modric swapping North London for the Spanish capital.
The two clubs were initially reported to have signed a deal encouraging mutual co-operation for the future, but Mauricio Pochettino’s men are yet to reap any benefits from this arrangement.
However, with Bale’s presence on the left wing still something that Spurs have not replaced, the White Hart Lane outfit should look to Real Madrid to provide the answer.
Denis Cheryshev is on the Santiago Bernabeu outfit’s books, but has been loaned out in recent campaigns to Sevilla and Villarreal.
The skilful left winger has been playing a starring role this season for the El Madrigal outfit, scoring four goals in 17 starts for Villarreal and been a key part of their push for European qualification.
More impressively, Cheryshev has offered up nine assists this season in La Liga, with only Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo recording more.
With the versatility to play on either flank, real creativity and fabulous technique, the Russian would be an excellent addition at White Hart Lane and at 24 would fit into Spurs’ young side.
Due to the extreme competition for places in Carlo Ancelotti’s side, Cheryshev will have his work cut out to play regularly if he does return to his parent club ahead of next season.
After the limited impact of Roman Pavlyuchenko at Tottenham the club may be reluctant to sign another Russian, but Cheryshev looks like an ideal fit for Spurs post-Bale.
