Chelsea media round-up: Mourinho picks out his next long term captain

A round up of news stories this morning related to Chelsea.

Jose Mourinho has hinted to the Daily Mirror that Kurt Zouma has everything needed to replace John Terry at the club.

The French defender has done well in his first full season for the Blues and Mourinho likes the promise in him.

The boss has suggested he’s got what it takes to eventually become the club’s captain.

“One day Zouma will be 23 or 24 and will be a player of great maturity and probably leadership, too, to replace John,” said the boss.

Jose Mourinho has been quoted by FourFourTwo explaining what it will take for any side to lure Petr Cech away from the club.

The Czech has been tipped to leave this summer with Thibaut Courtois currently the club’s number one.

However, the Blues boss has made it clear that any side looking to get their hands on him will have to pay top price for the privilege.

“If he tells me he wants to leave, I will tell him my opinion and my opinion is [that Cech is] one of the three best goalkeepers in the world. Huge money,” said Mourinho.

The boss has also been quoted by the Daily Express suggesting that John Terry will still be a Chelsea player next season.

Terry’s current deal expires this summer and as yet, no renewal offer has been put in front of him.

It would be a remarkable decision considering his consistency and leadership skills, if Chelsea decided to end their association with him.

“What I can guarantee is that John will be a Chelsea player next season. It’s because I know what my board tell me,” he said.
