Bolton Wanderers midfielder Neil Danns has friendly debate with club's fans on Twitter

The midfielder was open with Bolton fans on the social network earlier today.

Bolton Wanderers midfielder Neill Danns is one of the more active members of the team on social media. He is often on Twitter interacting with fans and other players. Today however, he got into something of a debate with Bolton fans, albeit a fairly friendly one.

It stemmed from his criticism of a popular Bolton Wanderers blog:

That saw some criticise him for his stance, and he responded in generally good spirits, although still stood his corner:

He ended by insisting that the debate was friendly and that in no way was he offended by anything anyone had said to him, and also a plug for Bolton to push on for the rest of the season:

It was, all in all, an excellent exercise from the Bolton midfielder. Football fans these days feel a massive disconnect to the modern footballer - with wages, foreign player influx and ticket prices all contributing to a widening chasm between fan and player.

So for Danns to go out of his way today to interact with Bolton fans was a good gesture and he was a big enough man to take the criticism that came his way on the chin.

Bolton drew 1-1 with Reading last night and are now reasonably safe from relegation, ten points clear of the increasingly poor Millwall.

But at least Bolton fans know that, no matter what, they and Danns are in this together.
