Nottingham Forest loaned Robert Tesche to Birmingham City this week, with the midfielder not in the plans of new boss Dougie Freedman.
The former Hamburg ace was very much a prominent figure under Stuart Pearce during 2014, but his place was taken in the side by Aston Villa loanee Gary Gardner.
Letting the 27-year-old leave was seen as a risky move by some Forest fans, but Freedman clearly wanted to be fair to the player and allow him to get some game time.
Gardner has impressed since arriving at the club, but do his figures stand up to Tesche's?
|Won Tackles per game||Passing Accuracy||Key Passes per game||Shots on Target per game||Appearances|
Gardner outperforms Tesche in terms of the number of tackles won per game, which is quite an accolade as the German has accumulated the highest number of total tackles in the Forest team this season.
Tesche however records a better passing accuracy, and records a better pass completion rate, creates more chances per game, and has more shots on target.
These are areas the Villa youngster can look to improve, but there's one figure which can't be denied when it comes to Gardner. The last six games he has featured in, Forest have not lost any of, winning five, and for that reason, it's the right decision to stick with him.
