Sherwood has called on Villa fans to rise to the occasion against West Brom this evening, as he hopes his players will be inspired by a hostile atmosphere.
“I am reliant on the Villa fans to really get behind the team regardless of what is happening during the game and really spur us on to the end,” said Sherwood.
“Our aim is to give them something to support too. We don't want to disappoint them.”
Villa fans shouldn’t have too much difficulty getting up for the game considering it’s a derby.
Things are tense around Villa Park at the moment, as Sherwood struggles to get the club out of the bottom three in the Premier League.
He’s not made the start he would have been hoping for at the club and can’t be blamed for trying to gain the team an advantage in any way he can.
The players need to be backed and they need evidence of belief coming from the supporters, which will aid them rather than causing heads to drop.
It’s also a significant game looking ahead to the next round of FA Cup games this weekend, as the sides meet each other again looking to secure a place in a semi-final at Wembley.
Three points this evening will help the side out of the bottom three and that will be the perfect setup for the FA Cup game.
