Poyet gives Sunderland team selection hint ahead of Hull match

Sunderland are looking to win the physical battle against Hull City tonight.

Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has told the Chronicle that he will pick a strong and powerful team to face Hull City tonight.

The Black Cats are in desperate need of the three points against their fellow relegation strugglers and Poyet feels that their best chance of getting them will be if he packs the squad with physical players.

Hull are one of the more imposing sides in the division and Sunderland will have to be combative if they are to get the victory on their travels.

“We need to pick a proper team – men, powerful players fit enough to play 90 minutes,” he said.

“Maybe there’s going to be a couple of changes, but not too many because we need to respect our shape and the way we’ve been trying to play."

The Uruguayan's words would suggest that both Lee Cattermole and Jack Rodwell are likely to start in the centre of midfield for the Black Cats.

The Wearsiders have appeared lightweight in other games this season, with Poyet even admitting to the Chronicle that they lack strength last week, but he will hoping that there are no such problems tonight.

If Sunderland can pick up the victory it will be a major step towards securing their safety, whilst it would put Hull in huge trouble.

At the moment the two sides are both hovering just above the relegation zone, but a loss here would be a huge dent in their survival chances.
