A former Tottenham Hotspur favourite has told them to focus on qualifying for the Champions League after their recent cup disappointment.
The Argentine made 221 appearances for Tottenham as a player before going on to manage the club in the early nineties.
Tottenham have had a brilliant season but the last seven days have seen them crash out of two competitions, losing in the quarter-final of the Europa League and the final of the Capital One Cup.
But despite missing out on two pieces of silverware, Tottenham have been told to refocus for what remains of the campaign by their former star.
Tottenham are currently seventh in the table although their trip to Wembley means they do have a game in hand over the sides directly above them.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are currently two points behind Southampton and four points behind Liverpool, while they will need to make up a six-point gap to climb above the side currently in fourth place, Manchester United.
There is still plenty of football to be played and Tottenham have the players to make a late surge for Champions League qualification, but the question is: What has the last week taken out of them?
Proud of our boys at Wembley last Sunday, first goal changed everything. Now to try for the 4th spot in the PL. COYS— osvaldo ardiles (@osvaldooardiles) March 3, 2015
